1.INTRODUCTION:-Fashion Technology is a branch in the education system of Tripura. It was started in the year 2004 under WEST BENGAL STATE COUNCIL OF TECHNICAL EDUCATION, Kolkata. In 2007 the Institute was taken over by the TRIPURA UNIVERSITY. This course aims at imparting the method of creating new designs and fashion stylizations.

• Fashion Designer : Designer levels is all about the couture and own creation of designs.

• At Domestic Retail Industry: Where you can design apparels for the mass. Research on national ans international brands and also can fashion forecast.

•  At export houses: where you can become a merchandiser. You can learn the commercial designing from CAD department, production department, inventory management.

• Textile Designer: In this area, you can design the textile materials from fibre to fabric.

• Start your own level: After gaining the knowledge from yhe fashion and textile industry, one can start their own boutique.

• Higher study options: Students can also go for higher studies in following stream: 1. Fashion technology 2. Apparel production 3. Textile Technology 4. Jute & Fibre technology 5. Fashion Design 6. Textile Design

5. Internships of Students:- This course is largely intended to cater education for self-employment and build entrepreneurs. Students have the opportunities to go for internship training to gain industrial knowledge on Textile ,Apparel and Fashion Designing etc . Major thrust areas of the training are:
(i) Understanding fabric and garments design and manufacturing 
(ii) Weaving and Printing 
(iii) Pattern Making etc.
The students during this course get practical training in Weaver's Service Centre, under Ministry of Textiles, Government of India, National Institute of Fashion Technology, Kolkata, Dept. of Handloom, Handicrafts and Sericulture, Govt. of Tripura and other organizations so as to develop technical skills and thus make this branch of Technology a unique of its own.
